I live only 45 minutes away from London by train but there is so many things I’ve never done or did years ago so I decided to make a list of them. I tried to pick various things including touristy bits and some more random ones. Everytime I go I find something new I want to do,visit or see but this is just a starting point.
The London Aquarium, London Dungeons, Madame Tussauds and The London Eye
All of these are within spitting distance of each other apart from MT but i’ve lumped them together anyway. I’ve been to the aquarium when I was younger but I haven’t been in a lot of years so would love to visit again. I also want to take Ethan and Ezra as he loves Penguins so aquariums are one of his favourite places.
I rode the London Eye with my dad back in 2000 when we thought it would close by the millennium however I would love to do it again as I don’t really remember it. I also want to take Ethan on it as he keeps bugging me to go on it and Nick also really wants to do it so I would love to take him with the boys.
The Shard & Sky Garden
I know this one is pretty similarbut the sky garden itself deserved a point as it’s gorgeous and an usual find within the city. Tickets for the Sky Garden are free but are often hard to get hold of so this is something that will have to be planned ahead.
Portobella Road Market
You see it on all the tv shows and it’s a blooming popular market so it’s somewhere I would love to visit and hopefully come away with a few good bargains. It’s known for its vintage stalls and amazing food so it’s something I hope to plan and do in the summer.
My Instagram is often filled with food photos from there as there is just so many different street foods on offer and they look awesome. Borough Market is a wholesale and retail food market in Southwark. It is another popular market in London and is one of the largest and oldest in London and I want to go as I have seen it in so many films.
Brick Lane Market
Starting to notice a theme here? Where I don’t live in central London I have never really attended the markets or the super touristy stuff. I want to attend Brick Lane Market and apparently the best day to do this is a Sunday. It’s also the home of the Brick Lane Beigel Bake shop which I’ve heard amazing reviews of and apparently it’s the best bagel shop in the UK. It’s also the home of the rainbow bagel which of course I NEED to try!
For so many years I’ve said I would love to go and see a play here and never done it so it’s made my list. It made my 30 before 30 list too so it means I will do it but I have to make sure the play is something I want to watch and not just do it because it’s on the list.
Walk Over The 02
I’ve saved this one for last as it’s something I’ve wanted to do for a few years but the idea scares me witless. I’ve told my Dad and Nick that they are doing it with me and they doesn’t get a choice. The Millennium Dome holds some good memories for me and dad as we went the night before it closed and enjoyed the whole experience. After that night it closed and got turned into a music venue which is what we know now. I think this is gonna be something that I have to plan to do in nicer weather as it’s not gonna be pleasant or safe to do it in rain or cloudy windy weather.
Somerset House @ Christmas Time
I purely want to do this just to feel christmassy. [Is that a word?] I have never been ice skating and as much as I would like to I am petrified of hurting myself but it always looks amazing in videos etc so I would love to just enjoy a drink and watch other people risk their limbs on the ice.
I saw this on Mark Ferris YT video about London and didn’t know it existed so just want to do it because it looks cool and I have never done a boat on the Thames so why not add it to the bucket list? I would also love to go on a Rickshaw because they look awesome but I know they are expensive.
Sky Tour – Tottenham Stadium
Now if you know me you know I am an Arsenal supporter but Nick and I both said this would be super cool to do and they now do an abseil down the building too which I really want to do – I told Nick he would have to film it. I wouldn’t say never for going to a Spurs game but as an Arsenal supporter I am supposed too.
The Churchill Arms @ Christmas Time [Kensington]
Toy Museum in Bethnal Green
Postal Museum in Covent Garden
I want to take Ethan to this as I think he will love it and I saw it on Instagram or YT and it looked good and brought out my geeky side. It is quite well priced considering but I think it is something we will do without Ezra as I can’t imagine its all that buggy friendly.
Show Nick The Millennium Bridge
Really simple one as Nick didn’t realise it was a real bridge when we watched Harry Potter.
Update: Completed 7th March 2022
Camden Food Markets with Nick
We are SUPER foodies so we want to do lots of food markets in London and the only one I really know of is Camden Market so thought we should start here and work our way around them trying random things. He hasn’t ever explored London so we are going to do the touristy places as well as some off the beaten track.
