We have previously worked with Foul Play Games and their awesome games before. When we found out the the youngest member of the Foul Play Family (The 9-year-old!), has designed a game we knew we needed to try it. Puffin Rush is a fun game of chance and tactics for all ages. The aim is to races across the snow-covered Arctic to be the first to find a fish, and get it home to your burrow. During the game you get to interact with other Arctic Animals and some may help and some may hinder your journey so don’t let your guard down!
You need to lay down the 36 cards face down to create your 6×6 playing area or board. You can move your character across the cards flipping them as you go and you need to find your burrow as well as look for fish. The instructions explain which animals will help you and which will interfere with your game. The card you want to avoid most is the blizzard card as it will mean you have to turn all the cards back to their starting position!
It really is a game of memory and works well for ages 5+. It is based around 1-4 players but this does depend on the ages and skills of the players. Each game we found took around 10 minutes but once we got quicker at it we could nail it in 5 minutes!
It’s very addictive and definitely one for the competitive types! Think snake and ladders but with ice, fish and arctic animals! It would make a fab gift for the younger board game lovers in your life.
